The Drop-In Sessions return at Merge every third Friday, supporting Drop-In Nation Education - this month, dropping in with DJ Cutler is the simmering jazz of Gruvology, a combo we've presented before to great acclaim.
For Buffalo education advocate Stacey Watson and her innovative curriculum known as Drop-In Nation Education, the term Drop-In refers to her work to rescue out of school youth and unemployed or underemployed adults by providing holistic education, including life skills and career-training opportunities in a collaborative community-based setting. Without question, her work and maintaining funding for it demands tireless dedication.
In support of this mission, The Good Neighborhood, Merge, and DJ Cutler have teamed with Drop-In Nation to launch the monthly Drop-In Sessions, every third Friday at Merge (439 Delaware Ave, 10pm, $5 cover). The concert series features Cutler performing with a collection of musicians that will change with each month, while Watson will take the stage to speak to her cause and spotlight those of others working for the greater good in Western New York. Drop-In Nation will receive a percentage of door proceeds from the event as well as run a raffle each month.
