Why  Raw???

What is Raw?

“Raw” is vegan food that is not “cooked” over approximately 115 degrees
Fahrenheit, at which point the enzymes break down, thus maintaining it’s “living”
quality, vitamins, and nutrients. Raw or “live” foods are optimal for healing because
they inherently contain these gifts of nature that are meant to support our bodies,
minds, and spirit. When we cook foods past 115 degrees, we actually destroy many
of the most nourishing qualities of the plants.

Why Alkaline?

One of the amazing benefits of eating a raw diet is the alkalizing effect is has on the
body. Dis-ease thrives in an acidic environment in our bodies. Alkaline is a fluid
with a PH above 8, with 7 being neutral. PH means “Potential for Hydrogen” and
refers to the level of acidity in a liquid on a scale of 1 – 14. There is a connection
between the alkalinity or acidity of a fluid--including the fluids in your cells-- and
the amount of oxygen it can hold. Acidic fluids cannot hold much oxygen. Alkaline
fluids can. Why is this important? Oxygen is vital to cell regeneration and without it
regeneration turns to degeneration.

An acidic body can create and store toxins. Keeping your body in an alkaline state
will help it to detox. In addition, the more alkaline a cell is, the more oxygen it can
hold. Acidic cells are poorly oxygenated cells. You can test your body’s PH with
inexpensive test strips available at your neighborhood pharmacy to see if you are
in normal range of between 6.0 and 7.5. If you suspect you may be between 5.0 and
6.0, you are acidic and could benefit from incorporating more alkaline forming foods
like lemon and salads.

A raw foods detox is a great idea for anyone wanting to cleanse and refresh their
energy, lose weight, and boost their immune system. Beyond cleansing, it is vital to
maintain a diet with lots of fresh, organic, local fruits and vegetables in a balanced
healthy lifestyle.

*While you're at it - check out our week long yoga & juice cleanse with Buffalo Yoga (we're suggesting that everyone eats raw during the week, so if you want support on your raw quest, this group cleanse is for you!)

We are happy to announce the finalized dates for a very special yoga & raw foods spring cleanse for the body, mind, and spirit!

When? Sunday April 15th - Saturday April 21st.  As a group, we will meet each morning, bright and early 6:00am - 7:30am

Where?  Buffalo Yoga Studio in the TriMain building (2495 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14214.  Suite 418. 716-835-0703)

What? Each morning will consist of an hour-long yoga class, group support, vital cleansing tips, and information about the seven chakras (energy centers in your body.)  Your investment also includes a fresh-made juice each day that you will enjoy after class.

How?  The depth of the cleanse is up to you.  You'll be eating your meals on your own, but we suggest eating a raw foods diet for the week which consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, soaked whole grains and nuts, fresh juices, dehydrated goodies, cacao (raw chocolate), and smoothies!  This cleanse is one of abundance - the focus is on adding-in healthy, whole foods, and eliminating other substances from your life temporarily including drugs, alcohol, caffeine, meat, dairy, sugar & gluten.

The food is up to you, although we'll give you a whole booklet of suggested recipes and idea.  We'll also support and assist you in defining the cleansing parameters that will work best for you.  Some people may choose to do a couple days of just juices, or some may want to still have cooked foods - don't worry! - we'll help you determine the best method for you.

For those choosing raw foods, merge is additionally offering a week of raw entrees (7) that will be available to pick up at class in the mornings.  This supplemental addition to the cleanse offers a yummy, healthy meal for those who are busy and may not have the time, know-how, or energy to prepare the raw dinners.  So we're making it easy for you to feel prepared and sustained during the cleanse.  (This additional 7 entrees is $100)

Why? Seasonal cleansing offers a chance to go inward, to slow down, to reflect, release, and renew.  As we do with our cars, our homes, and our equipment, our bodies need regular maintenance.  It's important during this cleanse to rest, as your body will be releasing toxins and "old stuff" energetically and physically. By getting up earlier in the morning we give our internal clocks a chance to re-set and adjust to the natural way of rising with the sun, and we get to enjoy of the most peaceful time of day!

Yoga offers stress relief, muscular relaxation, energy boosts, and calming of the mind and body.
Raw foods offer  nutrient dense energy and  alkaline balance. This decreases acidities where dis-ease can build up.  You will notice an increase in energy, endurance and emotional wellbeing. And many participants have experienced weight loss as well.

Do it for yourself, and then your family & friends will benefit from the goodness you'll be emanating by the end of the week.  :)
